ATTENTION Warehouse Workers: Possible Hazards in the Workplace

Do you work in a warehouse? This blog is specifically aimed towards you! According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), more than 145,000 people work in over 7,000 warehouses. Alongside that statistic, the fatal injury rate for the warehousing injury is higher than the national average for ALL industries. With such alarming stats, our agency has taken it upon ourselves to point out these hazards and the solutions to them.

Over the next few weeks, we will be going in further depth, from forklift safety to correcting poor ergonomics. This week, we are here to point out a few of the potential hazards for warehouse workers.

These hazards include:

• Repetitive motion injuries

• Improper use of forklifts

• Poor fire safety provisions

• Improper stacking of products

• Hazard communication

• Electrical systems and wiring

• Poor respiratory protection

• Failure to use the proper protective gear

• Failure to follow proper lockout/tagout procedures

• And much more…

Be sure to come back to our blog over the next few weeks or so when we will be discussing each hazard in depth.

At Wolpert Insurance, we want to help Massachusetts business owners ensure that the workplace is a safe place to be (especially for warehouse workers.) If action is not taken to provide a safe work environment, workers compensation claims will be much more prevalent and common. Remember, the more claims made by employees, the more your workers compensation premium will be. Help us help you to ensure that this does not happen!
